TAWAS CITY – On the recommendation of the Committee of the Whole, the Iosco County Board of Commissioners voted to approve a resolution opposing certain provisions of the State of Michigan’s recently-passed Clean and Renewable Energy and Energy Waste Reduction Act at its regular meeting held March 6.

The resolution also supports a statewide ballot initiative led by Citizens for Local Choice to repeal Part 8 of the Act, which gives the Michigan Public Service Commission (MPSC) the power to overrule local authorities, especially with respect to solar and wind projects in the community. The measure passed on a 3-0 vote.
